Technical Consultant
Position Summary:
The consultant plays a pivotal role in the development of DeskNet's strategic positioning and business plan.
By being an integral member of the project team, the consultant must be able to collect, review and analyze existing problems and provide highly customized digital publishing solutions. They are also responsible for timely delivery of high-quality work and professionalism in dealing with clients and team, contributing to DeskNet's initiatives and communicating issues and concerns to management team.
The skill set includes all standard publishing software, Internet-content-management systems, expertise in enterprise databases (Oracle, DB2, Sybase, etc.) and a proficiency in Internet standards (XML, HTML and Java).
Responsibilities include:
1) Develop client workflow, with an emphasis on developing efficiency
- Assist project manager on implementation of project solution/installation
- Support project manager in delivering client needs
- Analysis of client's current workflow needed to ensure thoroughly developed process, this includes interviewing managers and employees and observing operations
- Ensure expectations, understand client issues, goals
- Do what you can to ensure success
- Manage problems and listen to get answers
- Treat both clients and other team members with respect
- Create business logic for conversion of data feeds and any dynamic production processes
- Implement and integrate the solution(s)
- Assist with the testing of the system, verifying integrity of automations created
2) Train clients on software and new workflow implemented
- Work on relationship building with clients
- Prepare for training sessions
- Be able to relate with clients and show patience and professionalism at all times
- Train designated staff members administrators on the strategic solution design and business logic used
3) Documentation
- Develop and produce customized materials
- Document procedures and methods used in the solution, and develop materials
- Produce solution definition documentation
4) Tradeshow support
5) Contribute to "knowledge base umbrella"
- Keep updated with latest technology
- Know the client's business and know the technology
- Contribute information learned from each site to various databases
Requirements
- Knowledge of the computer, technology services industries, or related fields (ie. publishing)
- Strong organizational skills, with the demonstrated ability to plan and implement marketing and sales projects from conception through completion and evaluation
- A team builder/player who is by nature hardworking, service oriented, flexible and able to adapt to the demands of a dynamic environment.
- Must be willing to roll up sleeves and make things happen!
- Travel
- 4 - 6 years experience in financial industry
- Excellent communication skills (writing and speaking)
- Technical Skills
- 2 -3 years experience as a VB or Java Script developer
- Very strong knowledge in XML data modeling and XSLT
- Experience working with Microsoft Word XML
- JAVA, SQL, JDBC, HTML
- IBM DB2 ContentManager, WebSphere, Oracle 9i
- Crystal Reports and ContentWelder
